LEA
I completed the LEA activity with my class this week and it worked out very well. We completed an interactive writing lesson and read back our sentences to each other. I turned the students words into a book that we have since illustrated. We have been reading it each day and the students get very excited when we get to their page. The student that is my kidwatching student is especially excited to read his. I will certainly continue to use LEA's in my class.

It's great that you have incorporated the LEA into your classroom. I have been reading about it this afternoon and it sounds like a great approach. Kids love anything that is personalized to them, and reading their own words in print must create such a sense of power for them. Not only that, but hopefully it will allow them to see the communicative power of writing. Unfortunately, I do not have a whole classroom to work with, but I am excited to try making a book of her very own with my kidwatching child.
ReplyDeleteIn my blog I also wrote about an LEA activity that I observed. I was so surprised to see how well some children can create a not only coherent but very poetic story and be proud of their accomplishment!
